François Chevennement,
Artistic Director
François Chevennement was previously Artistic Director of Dance Alberta in Edmonton prior to accepting the same position with Citie Ballet as of July 1, 2006. Mr. Chevennement was born in Dijon, France and trained at the National Conservatory of Dance in Avignon. He began his professional career with the Opera Avignon before continuing on to Ballet du Nord (France) and the Alberta Ballet (Calgary/Edmonton) as a principal dancer. Long Bio

Laurence Menotti-Chevennement,
Ballet Mistress
Laurence Menotti began her dance training in 1973 with her mother Nicole Menotti in France. In 1978, she joined the Geneva Dance Center (Switzerland) where she studied under David Allen and Claudine Kamoun for the pre-professional program. In1986, she was selected for the famous Varna Competition (Bulgaria) and she was also offered a contract with the Ballet du Nord Company (France) where she was principal dancer for fifteen years. William Thompson,
Artistic Director Emeritus
As a teacher Mr. Thompson has taught for many major ballet schools including the Zurich Opera, La Scala (Milan), Pennsylvania Ballet School, L'Académie des Grands Ballets Canadiens and others. As a ballet master Mr. Thompson has had the opportunity to work with many of today's major dance artists; Rudolf Nureyev, Natalia Makarova, Eva Evdokimova (Berlin Opera), Gelsey Kirkland, Martine van Hamel and Patrick Bissell (American Ballet Theatre), Marcia Haydee and Richard Cragun (Stuttgart Ballet), Wayne Eagling (Royal Ballet), Chan Hon Goh (National Ballet of Canada), and Evelyn Hart (Royal Winnipeg Ballet). Solveig Groenland,
Resident Choreographer
Ms. Groenland graduated from the Grant MacEwan Dance Program with honours in 2000, and has since had the opportunity to work with various renowned contemporary choreographers and companies including Ginette Laurin, Overtigo in Montreal and New York's Isabelle Gotzkowski. In 2002, Ms. Groenland created her first work for Citie Ballet and after a very successful second work in the fall of 2003 was named Resident Choreographer by Artistic Director, William Thompson.
