V ...
November 2007
Eva O. Howard Theatre, Victoria School vocal, visual, vibrant.....and? Citie Ballet's season opener. Join us for an infusion of vitality.
"The inspiration for V... came from the music of Johann Baptist Vanhal whose Symphonies intrigued me. I wanted to call the programme simply V and from this was born the concept of an evening of works whose titles or composers begin with the letter V. I approached William Thompson to collaborate in a choreography to the music of Vanhal which would become the second act of the programme, and thus began the concept of Vice Versa. For the first act Resident Choreographer Solveig Groenland chose the music of Peteris Vasks to create a new work Ventriloquist. To add to the mix I have chosen a little known classical ballet from the French repertoire La Vivandi¸re staged by an expert in the French style, Laurence Menotti. An added treat is the live violin music provided by Guest Artist, Rhonda Lynn."
