Perspectives
Citie Ballet and Orchesis Dance Group join forces to present an evening of new works with contemporary perspectives on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Eva O. Howard Theatre, Victoria School. The performance begins with two works: a contemporary ballet by Citie Ballet Artistic Director, François Chevennement inspired by the elements of the South American Rain Forest, and an original modern work by guest choreographer Helen Husak, originally created for and premiered with Orchesis Dance Group, will receive it's Citie Ballet premiere

The evening concludes with an imaginative collaboration between choreographers Kathy Metzger-Corriveau (Orchesis) and François Chevennement (Citie Ballet) to create a full-length work. Using the image of a red rope as a mutual theme, they will create four connecting works sometimes combining dancers and alternately creating works exchanging dancers. The red rope may be used metaphorically and conceptually to express both physical and emotional boundaries in dance. It can represent limitations of time, space and relationships.

The evening promises an insightful look at today's contemporary issues through dance and one well worth attending.
