Citie Ballet Guest Artist
Born in Beijing, Chan Hon Goh received her dance training in Vancouver, at the Goh Ballet Academy. She received honours for all her R.A.D. ballet exams and the Solo Seal Award. Miss Goh began performing principal roles with the Goh Ballet Company while in her teens and quickly established a reputation of being a dancer with breathtaking technique and a refined and delicate musicality.
Miss Goh joined the National Ballet of Canada as a member of the corps de ballet in July 1988. She was promoted to Second Soloist in July 1990, to First Soloist in January 1992, and to Principal Dancer in January, 1994.
Described as "...a ballerina with perfect grace and heart stopping balance." (The Niagara Gazette), Miss Goh possesses the grace and beauty of the quintessential ballerina. Miss Goh has performed principal roles in productions of Giselle, La Bayadére, Swan Lake, La Fille Mal Gardée, Don Quixote, Onegin, Cinderella, La Sylphide, The Nutcracker, Paquita, Romeo and Juliet and The Sleeping Beauty to unanimous critical acclaim.
Miss Goh has appeared as a guest artist with the Singapore Dance Theatre, the Hong Kong Ballet, and with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet. She has also been invited to participate in international ballet galas in the US, the Dominican Republic, the United Kingdom and Japan, as well as benefit galas throughout Canada.
